The reel mechanism on the cable works great and I'll keep it in the rear console for charging purposes etc, but it does NOT work for Android Auto. I bought a new sig CX-5 this weekend. The Ottocast only converts wired AA to wireless. It does not add AA functionality to cars without it. Edit : just looked it up and didn't realize you had Carplay functionality. I see the Ottocast uses this to add Android Auto. I've had that same issue on my 2015 Mazda 3.

Full disclosure, I still have the old hardware and used AIO to tweak the system and allow install. I've been using it well over a year, and with the phone update, now I can have AA Maps
Now it has auto update but I turned that off to do a manual check because it wasn't updating. Apparently the wifi is "always on" so it should have updated over night but not from what I could tell. The youtube video is old but I think it will still work to help you update the Android auto from your phone. Current version is 6. 0.6153 4GEFcIw.
