Defensive sieges were one of the best parts about Warband but these are very hard to come across in Bannerlord. Currently (as of 1.3 and 1.4), the AI only attacks a castle when they have an extreme advantage, which means that if you manage to get into the castle before the AI begins it's siege, you're going to lose the battle.
I had to load a save game in order to avoid unknowingly becoming a criminal. In my reloading of my saved game I did the poacher quest with no problems and didnt do the spy quest so I"m banking on it being the spy quest. Killing the wrong "innocent thug" in the Spy quest in a consensual dual in a gladiator arena is apparently a crime. They'll defend themselves. If they're defeated and not taken prisoner, at some point, the NPC you assigned to the caravan will start waiting for you in a random citys tavern, you can go and pick them up; then, if you still want that character to trade, you'll have to pay for the caravan again. Last I checked, the price was 15000 for a regular I started the siege and this guy showed up and is just sitting here. At this rate he’s gonna starve us out. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks in game since they hit 0 food. 182. 28. I've been playing as a mercenary, not a full vassal, of several kingdoms, but if I ever try to leave a kingdom, I take a -40 relations penalty with….
Battanian = fian champions in vast numbers with a (15-20) strong group of cav to screen enemy cav and help the archers maintain distance from infantry. Scale up as needed. Use a companion to field another group heavy with infantry or whatever you need more of and always have them in your army for 0 influence.

The only way I was able to fix it was through the dev console cause I didnt want to start a new save again, I just reset him to 0 cause once they dislike you you cant even go in their castles or get quests from them. 1. Being fast is the key to choosing your battles. If you are a mercenary and you see the merchants of an enemy faction, they can be good pickings as long as you can defeat their strong escorts. There are times you can herd them into places they can't retreat from you, but usually it's a while before you can outrun them.
v1.0.1: Fixed a bug where if the player happened to be waiting in a town/village when the contract menu pops up they would be stuck inside the town/village when the menu closes. The mod should now switch back to the previously open menu if a menu was open when the contract menu triggers.
After disbanding the party the companion will just wander off to either the nearest city or nearest castle you own. After that you can either get him back into the party at your castle, or at a tavern in the city (they'll just join you at no expense). You also gotta give them some short time to do this.

There are probably better people to answer the question but afaik certain actions (and missions) give you criminal points - too many and you become a wanted criminal with its restrictions - and the criminal points decay a bit It is absolutely same thing. Being vassal and having 6 companions with some Steward skill I can have 800 men army for 0 influence as long as I want. Nothing can stand against me at this point. But I don't mind, if there is some other way to train leadership skill at reasonable rate. Open comment sort options. Pay them tribute, or chop chop on the executioners block. If that is not possible as you are a vassal, create clan parties, 50 man, and make them full cav. Place them in defensive way (in clan window on party there is a selection of capping recruitment and upgrades to specific cost as well as setting them to neugral
There are many currencies in the world of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord and Influence is one of the most important ones. Though players wouldn’t think at the start that it is a currency, Influence is used by you and the AI to fight to decide what happens in a faction.
